Jaguars Vs Immortals
Immortals won the toss and elected to field. Jaguars were in an all familiar situation yet again, but they decided to take advantage of it. Mrugesh & Manoj took the caution & attack mode in that order. Manoj made some lofty hits above the in-field but soon perished when the score was at 13. Naveen looked to bring some caution after the early wicket, however he was brilliantly caught by Navneet at long-on, and Jaguars looked to be in trouble. Mrugesh and Amit added a much needed partnership and took the score past 70 runs in 13 overs. Mrugesh was finally run out at 36 and Venkatesh failed to add more than a couple. Arpit and Amit accelerated the run making and took the score to 98 in the 17th over. The Immortals’ bowling came back well towards the end to prevent an onslaught; albeit Jaguars raced a strong score of 125.
Chasing 125 runs at Longmont was going to be a tall task but the Immortals openers were confident from the start. The left/right hand combination of Navneet & Vaibhav prevented the Jaguars bowling from getting an upper hand, and they scored freely without much risk. The first bowling change in the form of Venkatesh brought a end to Navneet’s inning when he was caught at long-off by Navvn. Vaibhav perished soon after in a similar fashin (caught by Naveen off of Venkatesh). Jaguars bowling continued its discipline and chutzpah and didn’t really allow any of the Immortals batsmen to settle down. Venkatesh, Pankaj, Naveen, and Kavish all bowled tight and tidy overs. Dashwanth was the only other batsman who got in to double digits and remained unbeaten on 18. Finally, the Immortals innings folded at 77 in the 17th over. Naveen was outstanding in the field grabbing 4 catches, affecting a runout, and taking a wicket, while Venkatesh returned with brilliant figures of 3-1-8-3.
MoM: Amit Thakar (31/30)
KCC Vs Foco Devils
KCC won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 88 in 18 overs. Parag, Avinash and Mohan contributed with the bat. Abhinav was the pick of the bowlers from the Devils’ squad.
Foco-Devils got off to a decent start, the top four exploited the bowling, and the team overhauled the total in 9 overs losing just 2 wickets on the way.
MoM: Abhinav Kidambi 29(24)
Bowling figures: 4-1-14-3
Spartans Vs VCC
Spartans received a walk over from VCC due to lack of players.
Doyle Vs Denver Dangers
DGIT scored 1118/10 in 20 overs. Keyur was the pick of the batsmen with his 48 runs from 37 balls. On reply Denver Dangers were able to score only 76/10 in 19.1 overs. Ananth Reddy of Doyle IT took his first 5 wkts haul in CTCL. Both teams played in good spirits.
Denver Lions Vs Challengers
Challengers CC won the toss and elected to Bat.
Challengers scored 86/9 in 20 overs and Denver Lions Chased the total by scoring 89/8 in 19.1 overs .
Denver Lions Won by 2 wickets
CSU Rams Vs Patriots
After a close game against Jaguars in Longmont, Rams were back in their home territory against the city rivals Patriots. Patriots won the toss and elected to put Rams into batting. Rams juggled their opening pair and Sridhar C and Ravi opened their batting and got off to a good start. But Sridhar couldn’t hold back and got out trying to heave one over Cow Corner. The score read 6/1 in 1.4 overs. Shashank came in and while he rotated the strike, Ravi found it hard to get going. But Shashank got out trying to pinch a single on the mid-wicket and giving a catch to silly mid-on. Sridhar Reddy came in and took the Patriots bowling for a ride scoring at almost 200 strike rate. But unfortunately Ravi got run out in the 9th over when the Rams were picking up pace having gotten to 38. Sagar Chandra came joined Sridhar at the crease and both did not waste any time in settling as both scored briskly with Sridhar hitting sixes and boundaries at ease. While they were finding boundaries at ease, they also made sure they rotated strike and not waste a ball while also not giving away their wicket. They got the run rate to more than 6 and kept it there but tragedy struck in the 16th over when the score read 96 when Sagar ran for a single that wasn’t there and got run out even though the ball appeared to hit the bowler’s hand instead of the stumps but the umpire had seen otherwise and gave it out without consideration. Sridhar and Sagar had put on an impressive partnership of 58 in just over 7 overs. Sridhar still continued to dominate the Patriots bowling and reached his half century in just 40 balls. Chaitanya had joined him in the crease and he found it hard to get going at first. That put all the pressure on Sridhar and he got out trying to increase the run rate even more falling for 51 in just 41 balls having hit 2 sixes and 2 boundaries. He was given a round of applause on his way back to pavilion for his amazing effort. Srinivas Reddy came and went ballistic scoring 14 off just 7 balls with an impressive six over deep fine leg. He helped Rams reach a hard to catch target of 132 in a ground where runs are hard to come by.
Patriots having been set the target of 133 got off to the worst possible start losing the wicket in the very first ball of the innings to none other than Srinivas Reddy. He bowled a peach of a delivery on off stump worthy of getting out any batsman to have ever played cricket much to the delight of Rams. He bowled a tight over and was well complemented by Sagar who got two wickets in the very next over and the score read 2 for 3 in 2 overs. Naman stayed in the crease not troubling the scorers as much but got out to a brilliant diving catch by Srinivas off the bowling of Chaitanya. Venkat was the only one of the patriots who had a double digit score but he too got out trying to up the run rate. Rams bowling was really impressive but Tom Peter took the honors for the day taking 4 wickets in his spell for 15 runs. His bowling was clinical and his line and lengths were immaculate as Patriots had no answer to him. Rams bowling and fielding was again at its usual best. Sagar Chandra bowled his only over and got a wicket maiden wrapping up the Patriots’ innings for a paltry 43 as Rams took a comfortable 89 run victory.
Sridhar Reddy was unanimously adjudged the Man of the match for his half-century and a worthy one at that! Rams have now laid the marker for the teams vying for the Play-offs spots. It is going to be a close few weeks in the fight for the top four and Rams have once again established that they are not ones to be taken as a spot of dust on your shoulder that you whisk away but as the dust that can get in your eyes and run havoc!
Indian Hawks Vs Denver Stars
Denver Stars won the toss and chose to Field first.
Indian Hawks started well with Harish playing aggressively and setting the tone. Satish and venkatesh played well to get 50 runs in first 7 overs but lost the plot in the latter part of the game with final score being 120/8.
Chasing 121 Denver Stars started well. Rajesh and Bhargav quickly made 20 in first 2 overs. Bhargav along with Vijay and Hari Shankar reached the target in 17.5 overs. Rohit bowled well but other bowlers couldn’t support him well.
Bhargav was awarded the man of the match for his 52 not out.
RCC VS Chennai Warriors
Umpires and players from both teams were at the ground by 3 PM. But there was a 40 min delay to start of the game because the previous game between Challenger’s Cricket Club vs Denver Lions didn’t finish until 4:00 PM
Match started at 04:10 PM
Chennai Warriors won the toss and choose to bowl first.
RCC(T) were off to slow start scoring only 5 runs from 2 overs. Chennai Warriors opening bowler’s, Manikandaprabhu & Murali Ponnudurai were bowling at good line & good length and they were rewarded with a wicket in the 3rd over where Debanjan Ghose nicked one to the keeper of Manikandaprabhu bowling. This put RCC(T) under immediate pressure & they succumbed to it by losing their wickets in no time. Credits goes to the Chennai warrior’s bowler’s for bowling their deliveries consistently at good line & length. RCC(T) were 27/5 in 10 overs. After the play resumed, things didn’t change much for RCC(T) as they kept on losing wickets. Kudos to Satish Kanagala for his good batting but unfortunately wickets were crumbling at the other end.
Chennai Warriors target was 62 from 20 overs.
RCC(T) started off brightly by taking a wicket in the first over. But Captain Piyush Khandelia & Dhilip Gopalan played some nice shots and ensured that Chennai warriors are safe home with a victory and they were able to score the remaining runs in 13 overs.
Chennai Warriors won with 9 Wickets in hand.
Highlights of the match:
Piyush Khandelia & Dhilip Gopalan match-winning partnership of 61 runs (Chennai Warriors)
Sathish Kanagala (RCC(T)) Spirited innings even though wickets were crumbling the other end.
Piyush Khandelia (Chennai Warriors) was awarded MoM for scoring 30 runs and taking 3 catches.
Both teams played with good spirit.
Anchors Vs Eagles
Bright cold and sunny colorado morning. Eagles lost quick wickets but made 99 runs in 20 overs.
Anchors lost some quick wickets but Bharath took control of the game and lead them to a win with 26 runs
in 16 balls with a good support by kiran. Prasad also was considered for the MOM for his 4 wicket haul
and Anchors commends him for his skill and spirit. The entire team congratulates Prasad and Bharath for
their Play and leading Anchors to another win.
Scorpions Vs Cheetahs
It was another Sunny and bright noon. It was a must win for Scorpions to stay in the race for top 4 slots in group 1 and it was expected to be a very tough match against strong opponents Cheetahs as they are one of the very strong teams in the league.
Scorpions won the toss and chose to bat first.
Scorpions started their innings with Satish and Parag and they tried to give good start for Scorpions but Satish got out quickly in 3rd over. Atif joined Parag and they both batted very well especially Parag with his attacking game. Both played very sensibly and got a 50 runs partnership with healthy run rate. Scorpions scored 64/1 at the end of 10 overs. Immediately after the break Scorpions lost their captain Atif wicket and it was a huge breakthrough for Cheetahs. Prerit bowled well and took important wickets of Atif and Parag to give Cheetahs some momentum. Vikram and Sudhir batted exceptionally well and put together a partnership of 48 runs in 6 overs. Vikram scored half century in 38 balls with 4 huge sixes and 3 fours. Because of very good top order batting Scorpions managed to score a decent total of 148/5 in 20 overs.
Cheetahs started their innings with Viren and Preetham and they both batted very well and gave a very good start by scoring few boundaries in Chida and Abhishek bowling. Viren looked to be in very good touch but Abhishek bowled very well to get his wicket caught behind. Scorpions never looked back after that and bounced back really well with few tidy overs in the second spell due to brilliant bowling from Vikram and Satish. Vikram got opportunity to bowl after long time and he utilized the opportunity very well and bowled a brilliant spell in the middle overs. At the end of 10 overs Cheetahs were 61/2 and still needing 88 to win from 60 balls. Cheetahs tried to accelerate the score after the break and lost few quick wickets of Bhuvesh and Preetham. Scorpions bounced back really well with those wickets. Satyam and Pradeep continued the run chase for Cheetahs and scored few boundaries but still the required run rate was over 10 runs per over and they had to take more chances and got out to Abhishek. Pradeep wicket was very huge for Scorpions and after they got his wicket it was just a formality to complete the match and the win was almost impossible for Cheetahs. Scorpions bowled out Cheetahs to 126/10 in 19.2 overs. It was a convincing win for them at the end.
Vikram was given Man of the match due to his exceptional batting and bowling.
Umpires did great job and there were no issues in the match.
